My name is Bahrin Yusof or also known as "ReN". I am currently a final year student of BSc (Hons) Professional Broadcasting Techniques and at the moment planning to continue to MA Television Documentary Production. This website is designed to show my portfolio on the projects that i have worked on.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

My interest in the media industry started when I took multimedia as my major project during the final year of my National Diploma course in Brunei. I really enjoyed the creative part of the course as it gave me the opportunity to experiment and apply my creative skills in various areas using computer technology and learned the basic knowledge of video editing, picture editing and web designing.

It then grew even more when I was fortunate enough to gain work experience in the largest local TV station (Radio Television Brunei) in Brunei for a period of six months in the “Enterprise Section” and later was given an opportunity to work full-time in the “News Graphics” Department as a graphics designer / video editor. Working there gave me the chance to work with real world projects and it had really given me an insight to the inner workings of how video production is handled in a TV station.

Currently, I am pursuing my career path taking a course in BSc (Hons) Professional Broadcast Techniques at the University of Salford, United Kingdom. It has taught me further about the media industry and a more in-depth insight about how the media is handled during the pre and post-production process. Furthermore, it has helped me mature my abilities not just in terms of my creativity but also on the technical side of things and the management of the whole process. It also gave me the opportunity to get involved in working as a team in video projects. This in turn, not only gave me confidence but also provided me the skills to brainstorm ideas and plan in advance as well as having the ability to do problem solving and most importantly show my skills and knowledge.

In addition to having the knowledge of computing and information technology, being on the course has also helped me to be a proficient computer user of video and audio production packages such as Final Cut Studio 3, Avid Media Composer 3.0, Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition and Digidesign ProTools as well as graphics and web designing packages such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Dreamweaver. It has also provided me the skills to use a professional broadcast camera with confidence such as the Panasonic P2 HD.

During my time in the University, I was always interested in producing documentaries. This was because I think that it is a challenge to produce a documentary from the development process until production. I firmly believe that continuing the MA Television Documentary Production is another step for me to fully utilise the skills that I currently have to pursue my career path in becoming a documentary producer.
